01: discovery

one of the first things we did was to document photographically the unique features of this historic structure and queried the homeowners as to which qualities of the house moved them emotionally. we then used this information as the foundation for our design exercise and presented sketches that fulfilled not only the program needs, but responded sympathetically to both the existing structure and the landscape.

02: detailing

once the conceptual scheme was complete, we proceeded to guide the client through a series of selections that included materials, finishes, trim details, plumbing and electrical fixtures, and casework. these were compiled into the construction document set that was used to generate the final price and the building permit. concurrently we worked with the client to develop the landscape design which included the design of drives, walks, terraces, outdoor rooms, and garden walls. 1

03: delivery

with the building permit in hand, we proceeded to move forward with an aggressive construction schedule, and with all of the decisions having been made in the detailing phase, we were free to complete the delivery of this addition and renovation at a brisk pace. shortly thereafter the landscape work was completed creating a home worthy of any garden tour.
